It was 21st january, 2020. In morning papa got a sudden phone call from North Bengal for office work. Papa asked mom to give him company for the journey. Before saying something to mom, I replied excitedly, "hurry! we will go hill station" and started packing bags. At 11 pm we left home for journey by our own car. Next day at 4 pm papa completed his meeting, again he started journey way to Ahaldara, a tiny village and also a off beat location of Darjeeling district. We crossed Darjeeling at 6.30 pm and only 43 km were awaited to reach our destination Sunrise View Point Homestay .I was really very much excited . We didn't know a nightmare was awaiting for us.
When car was going up towards the hill near about 8.30 pm , the car stopped suddenly in the dense forest of hill. No one was there except us and the darkness. Papa and Tutu uncle (driver) were tensed. They couldn't understand what should they do? I was scared. It was cold night but we all were sweating by fear. No car was passing by. Papa, mom and Tutu uncle were out of the car and talking about the unavailability of the mechanic before morning. Even we were 27 km far from city. I was observing everything inside the car.
Horrible sound of crickets were coming from the jungle. I knew that there were many leapoards in the jungle and they easily walk on the hill jungles. I thought of leopards out side of car and felt scare. I was just praying Vishnu, Allah ,God to help. At that time a phone call came from Chamling Chettry , homestay owner. My mom told her everything, because we were to reach 9.30 pm and the time was over. After three hours a car passed, but it was a tourist car. After one hour again a car passed . Papa asked them for help. Luckily a hill driver cum mechanic came forward to us. The person name Iswar Chettry was like god to us. Within half an hour the car was ready to move. My mom and papa thanked them and papa hugged him. Though I heard that people living in hills are very honest and kind by heart. It was proved that night. We reached to chamling homestay at 12.45am. We all were hungry and tired also. It was a nightmare to me.
Next morning I saw that I was in the lap of nature. Tea gardens and orange orchards were all around the place. I was glad to see the ocean of clouds. I enjoyed the journey a lot. Ahaldara, Shittong was a nice village to travel. I love nature. Three days we stayed there and it was nice experience to stay in tent. After all it was excellent tour with good food, fun, sightseeing and we enjoyed a lot.
